Unconscious is basically when we make a split second decision, in which our brain uses shortcuts based on information, experience and knowledge we are not consciously aware we are relying on.
The brain is really used to making thee shortcuts. The problem is, the brain gets it wrong rather often, leading to poor judgement and wrong decisions. We can be biased towards a decision about a person or situation, either favourably or unfavourably.

Beauty bias is when unconsciously make decisions or judgement about people based on their appearance. We make unconscious assumptions about their personality, their competence, and for example, about their suitability for a job. Of course, appearances are important in many workplaces, however our unconscious mind can dangerously often make wrong judgements about others based purely on their physical appearance or attractivess
Unattractive people may well find it harder to be hired or promoted. The unconscious mind also makes unconscious assumptions about people’s values and belliefs such as whether someone is likely to be helpful, kind or cooperative.
Interestingly and sadly, it seems that being too attractive may be unfavourable, especially for women as it can lead to unfavourable unconscious judgements regarding leadership suitability
In our unconscious bias training we help you understand your unconscious biases and find strategie and solutions to deal with them effectively
